Volcano VR-D — air destratifier for tall ceilings
Volcano VR-D — not a heater, a destratifier. A fan unit without a heat exchanger. Airflow 6500 m³/h, weight 18 kg. Purpose: mix air in tall spaces — pushes the hot layer from the ceiling down, evens out the temperature and saves up to 30% on heating.
Where Volcano VR-D is needed
Spaces with ceilings 6 m+ — large warehouses, production workshops, sports halls, hangars, exhibition spaces. The taller the ceiling, the stronger the temperature stratification (the gap between floor and ceiling). In a typical 8 m workshop the gap can hit 10-15 °C — at the floor +18 °C, at the ceiling +30 °C, and you're paying to heat air "no one needs".
VR-D mounts under the ceiling, drives the hot layer down, mixes the air — the temperature gradient evens out, heating becomes more efficient.
What to know about this model
- No heat exchanger — does not connect to the heating system. Electricity only.
- Motor 450 W (or 370 W in EC version), 230 V supply.
- Airflow 6500 m³/h — the highest in the Volcano line, since the whole housing works to move air.
- weight 18 kg, polymer housing — no rust, no efficiency loss over time.
- Pairs with a primary heater — VR2, VR3 or VR4. One VR-D serves 300-500 m² with 6 m+ ceiling.
When VR-D is needed and when not
Needed: spaces with ceilings 6 m+, large hangars, greenhouses with overheating top layer, intensively heated spaces where the temperature gradient gets in the way.
Not needed: low-ceiling spaces (up to 4 m) — stratification is small there. Also not needed in spaces with forced ventilation (it mixes the air on its own).
Installation
Mounted on the ceiling horizontally, working jet aimed down. No water/steam connection needed. Single-phase 230 V power. Install ~1 hour. Recommended over a "cold zone" (near gates or a wall with high heat loss) so the destratifier "grabs" hot air and directs it where it's actually needed.
FAQ on Volcano VR-D
Does VR-D replace the heater?
No. VR-D only mixes already-warmed air. Heat enters the room from another source — VR2/VR3/VR4 or radiators. VR-D works in a pair, not standalone.
How much does VR-D save on heating?
From our Kazakhstan projects — 20-30% savings in spaces with 6-8 m ceilings. Pays back in one heating season at 8-12 hours daily operation.
How many VR-D units for a 1000 m² space?
Depends on ceiling height and shape. 6-7 m ceiling — 2-3 units (300-500 m² each). 10 m+ — 3-4 units. Exact count is calculated during selection.
